What is a Poodle, and does it suit Singapore homes?
The Poodle is a purebred breed in three sizes: Toy, Miniature and Standard. It ranks among the most intelligent, trainable of all breeds, with a curly, low-shedding coat and an alert nature. In Singapore the Toy Poodle, about 2 to 3kg grown, is the HDB-approved, flat-friendly size, and the only size we place.

Toy, Miniature or Standard — and why we only place Toys
The Poodle comes in three recognised sizes: Toy (about 24 to 28cm, 2 to 3kg), Miniature and Standard. Same brain, very different dogs to house. In Singapore the distinction matters legally: the Toy and Miniature Poodle are on HDB's named approved list, while the Standard Poodle is not HDB-approved. One honest note on "teacup" Toy Poodles: teacup is a marketing label, not a real size class, and breeding for extreme smallness is a health-risk red flag, not a premium. A 2 to 3kg Toy Poodle is already a genuinely tiny dog. We do not sell, price or describe anything as teacup — and we would be wary of any seller who does.
Are Toy Poodles HDB approved?
Yes. The Toy Poodle is named on HDB's approved small-breed list, and HDB allows one approved dog per flat. Its licence transfers to HDB households by default, and we complete licensing at purchase. The Standard Poodle is not HDB-approved — we do not stock Standards.
The honest part: grooming, barking and being left alone
Every breed has a bill, and the Toy Poodle's is grooming. That curly, continuously growing coat mats fast in Singapore's humidity: plan on brushing several times a week and a salon visit every four to eight weeks, for life. Matting is the single most common pain we hear from new Poodle owners — see ourgrooming and cut styles guide before you commit, not after.
Two more truths shops rarely print. Poodles are natural alert-barkers — training manages it, it does not erase it. And a Toy Poodle is not a leave-alone-eight-hours dog; it needs company, a midday break or daycare on long days. It is also fine-boned, so rough play with very young children needs supervision. If none of that puts you off, you are probably the right owner.

Colours we place — and how coats change
The Toy Poodles we place are apricot (our most common), brown and red — all warm-toned. Here is the part colour-premium sellers skip: apricot and red coats commonly lighten, or "clear", as the puppy matures, so the adult shade is often softer than the puppy coat you fall for.
You will also see silver, grey, black and white Toy Poodles advertised in Singapore, sometimes at steep premiums. Colour changes nothing about health, temperament or trainability — pay for a healthy, well-matched puppy, not a paint job.

Every legitimate pet shop in Singapore holds an AVS licence you can verify yourself — ours is AS24J00046, listed on theAVS public registry of licensed pet shops. Unlicensed sellers on Carousell and Telegram typically move smuggled puppies without proper veterinary care, and parvovirus is the common outcome: a single treatment can run $5,000 to $10,000 with no guarantee of survival. One buyer was fined $7,000 by NParks just for purchasing a smuggled dog.
